“I’ve been here eleven years. Probably the nicest thing about this place is the location. There is a Ralph’s across the street, around the corner there is a cleaners, there are restaurants, including a great Thai restaurant, Denny’s, IHOP, Panda Express, you can get anything around here, it’s really good. It’s also a nice place to walk. The people are generally very nice people here. The owners are lovely. They more or less let you be yourself as long as you don’t step on anyone else’s toes. My thing is sowing. I have a nice roommate who crochets hats. And I do alterations for everybody. I’m 72 years old and I’m a veteran. We have two lady veterans. I’m one of them and the other one is 89 and truly outstanding. We have a lot of activities and new activities director, Denise. She’s really unbelievable. She puts on auctions, bingo, other games, and takes us on trips. Everyday she’s got something new. I really have nothing bad to say. The activities room is particularly nice, and so is the library down the hall. The staff here is wonderful. I like all the caregivers. The rooms are decorated nicely and you can put your own things in the way you want them. We have a beauty shop that opened up and a beautician who comes in once or twice a week, so the ladies here can look good all the time. And we have a library where you can sit and read in silence if you want to. We also have the activities room where we play games and have all kinds of activities. If you need medical help they have people that are qualified and take good care of you. I had a blood pressure issue once and they worried about me and took care of my problem. “I just moved in here about a week ago. I like it because you are not fenced in and you can go out anytime you want to. And there are the shopping centers. Most of all I get time to read book and there is new one on the way. Where I was before everything was always dark and we had to sit in front of a television all the time. So here I can sit down and finish my book. And I like the people. It’s a much better place. The main reason is because I have a nice room, I can look outside and see beautiful flowers and trees, which I couldn’t do at the other place. There was no window. Everything is open. In the past year they painted everything gold, coral, and green. Are rooms are freshly painted and they are gorgeous, and now we have hardwood floors.
